Fall Colors 2014

Fall Colors 2014

I just got back from a week in New England shooting fall colors. I typically go to Colorado in the fall and spend time in the mountains photographing the aspens, but this year I decided to head out to Vermont. Unfortunately, northern Vermont was already past the peak season by the time I got there, and most of the leaves had fallen from the trees with the heavy rains. As I drove south, I noticed that a lot of the trees off the mountains were still green. So the trip didn’t get off to a good start.

I managed to get some color shots in Vermont and New Hampshire. Since this was my first time to the New England states, I ended up using this trip as more of a location scouting trip. I drove out to the Maine coast and shot a few lighthouses and fishing villages. Overall the trip was a great time and I got some decent shots from it. I’ll definitely be going out to New England again, but will probably take more than a week and make sure to get there early enough to catch the colors in the northern part of Vermont.

The shot above is of the Marshall Point Lighthouse in Maine. It is a great lighthouse to shoot and not as busy of a location as many of the other lighthouses in the state.
